From a young age Ben was involved with his family’s underground construction business where he worked his way up the ranks from Equipment Runner to Operator and eventually working in the company’s accounting department.
After earning a degree in Business & Leadership from the University of Puget Sound, Ben pursued a career in Surety working for Travelers Bond as an Underwriter in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR. During that time, Ben underwrote some of the largest and most dynamic construction companies in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Northern California.
In 2008, Ben was hired on as a Broker working for a prestigious firm in Bellevue, WA managing over 150 clients in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California, becoming the Company’s youngest Principal, Vice President.
Ben made his way to California in 2013 where he established roots as Broker focusing on servicing contractors in California. Ben joined CSBA as a partner in 2022 because of the agency’s strong reputation in the industry and unparalleled team of surety expertise with which to serve clients.
Ben currently manages the surety needs for clients covering several different industries including, all trades of construction, manufacturers, solar, mining, facility services, private equity, environmental and the banking industry.
He has over 25 years of construction and surety experience. He considers his clients’ success his livelihood, with the philosophy of “keeping clients in business and profitable” above all.
Ben views his role as Broker to be one of pure advocacy for his clients. Ben frequently participates as advisor for tax planning, business formation and structure, ownership transitions, continuity planning, difficult surety placements, M&A consultation, improving bank and surety terms and conditions, indemnity negotiations, are all things that Ben is well versed in.
