Mr. Huckabay is a second generation in the surety business, and he joined CSBA in 1996. After working his way up the ladder, he is now responsible for managing the overall operations, setting the strategic direction for the agency, and guiding clients on how to obtain their surety needs. This includes getting intimately involved in his clients’ businesses serving as an advisor on a variety of aspects such as general business planning, investment of capital, tax planning, negotiating banking terms, business formation and structure, and continuity planning. All of this is done with the intention of helping clients become better businesses and to obtain the surety credit the client’s needs to meet their goals. Mr. Huckabay is also directly involved in selecting the best surety company for clients and negotiating their bond programs with surety companies.
He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Southern California Contractors Association and is the current Program Committee Chairman. He has been recognized as the Affiliate of the Year at both the Southern California Contractors Association and the Engineering Contractors Association. He is also an active member of the Surety Underwriters Association of Southern California and the National Association of Surety Bond Producers where he has developed very strong relationships with local underwriters all the way to the top of most surety companies allowing for greater communication and influence on client’s behalf.
In addition to his involvement in the construction and surety industries, he is the President of the Executive Council of the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics at California State University, Fullerton, which provides mentorship and financial support to the students of the college. He is also actively involved in Taller San Jose and Orangewood Foundation both of which service disadvantaged youth – one of his great passions.
Mr. Stong started his surety career in 1979 working for Chubb Insurance Company in Los Angeles. He attained Senior Underwriter status before leaving the company to join Friis & Company in 1984 as a Producer. In 1986, Mr. Stong started his own surety only agency in Riverside, Stong Surety. Stong Surety gained a strong reputation for integrity in the surety industry and being a value-added agency for contractors seeking to maximize their surety relationship. This was accomplished by providing advise and options to his clients on any aspect of their business, as well as maintaining a high level of trust and cooperation with his sureties. As a result of his approach, Mr. Stong enjoys many client relationships that have spanned over 25+ years. In 2020 Mr. Stong joined the team at CSBA bringing his staff and adding his office location in Riverside to continue his services to his clients and sureties, as well as continuing to grow his surety business.
Mr. Stong is actively involved in outside organizations. He is a member of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers, where he served as Regional Vice President of Region 2 (CA, AZ, NV and HI). He is also a member of the Surety Underwriting Association. He currently is the President-elect for the Magnolia Business Council Chamber of Commerce in Riverside. Additionally, Mr. Stong is active in the Kiwanis Club of Uptown Riverside where he serves on the Board of Directors and is a past President. He is the Chartered Organization Representative for Boy Scout Troop 90 in Riverside, where he also served as Scoutmaster.
He began his bonding career with CNA Surety in 1994 as a Surety Underwriter. Over the next 10 years he also worked at Travelers and The Hartford. Here he developed comprehensive underwriting skill and established strong relationships within the surety industry.
In 2004 he became a Surety Bond broker, and in 2011 established CalWest Surety as Owner/President. There he built an agency of integrity and strength establishing relationships with Surety companies and trust of his contractors. His 10 years as a Surety Underwriter give him a unique perspective and understanding of what Surety companies are looking for in a successful contractor. His guidance helps his clients form strong partnerships with the Surety companies to maximize surety bond credit.
At CSBA Mr. Morones is responsible for satisfying the bond needs of his clients and acquiring new business. He has been involved with various organizations including the Engineering Contractors Association, Surety Underwriting Association, National Association of Surety Bond Producers and Associated General Contractors.
Mr. Ayala has worked for the company since 2000, and he is currently responsible for management of the internal operations of the company, servicing the day-to-day needs of CSBA’s clients, and oversight of the firm’s account managers.
Mrs. Ostrom has worked in the surety industry since 2004 and served on the Board of the Surety Underwriters Association of Southern California from 2008-2010, starting as the secretary, then transitioning to vice president and finally president. She has also received four gold awards from the Surety Information Office, a national surety organization, for excellence in surety bond promotion by giving presentations on the basics of bonding.
As a Senior Account Manager with CSBA, Mrs. Ostrom’s primary responsibility is to guide clients on how to increase their bonding and ensure they have the capacity they need to accomplish their objectives. In doing so, she analyzes financial results giving feedback and advice, coordinates with other service providers like CPAs and banks, and ultimately, makes sure each client is placed with the right surety to serve their needs.
